What is the cause of your condition

Remedial Massage therapists are trained in the assessment and treatment of pain and dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system. A qualified remedial massage therapist can address the underlying cause of your condition. Remedial Massage therapists develop a working diagnosis, but we do not diagnose illness or disease. If you are seeking a diagnosis you should consult your doctor.

how long will it take

there is no simple ‘fix’ that takes a hurting person from a state of vulnerability back to one of physical confidence and full working potential. It usually takes some time to resolve painful conditions and ongoing treatment is recommended, however. If you are not feeling some improvement within the first few weeks, it is advisable to consider the cost/benefit ratio and consult your doctor about other treatment options.

what can you do

Regular remedial massage treatments can be very beneficial. A part of our treatment is a tailored stretching and exercise program if required. It is important to realize that you can do more for yourself than anyone else can. Leading a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, regular sleep and exercise is essential for good health.

what can I do for you

Remedial Massage therapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for numerous conditions including pain reduction, recovery from injury, stress, and sleep-related disorders, high blood pressure, restricted range of motion. I have trained extensively both in Australia and overseas and treated people from all walks of life including elite athletes, the young and the old. I practice Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is the integration of best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values.

how much will it cost

Remedial Massage therapy is a cost-effective treatment. A 1-hour treatment will cost a small fraction of that charged by other allied healthcare providers. A fortnightly treatment will cost the equivalent of a cup of coffee a day.

will it hurt

NO. There is a misconception that Massage must hurt to be effective, this is simply not true, in fact, painful treatments are counterproductive and so far, no one has ever produced evidence that causing pain cures pain. Unfortunately, the catchphrase “no pain, no gain” has permeated our culture. If a treatment causes pain, then you will have a stress response and your nerves and muscles will become tense and irritated which is the opposite of what we are trying to achieve.

how do we treat pain

Pain “An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage.” essentially pain is a protective mechanism, much like an alarm that warns us of actual or potential harm. This may be due to injury, illness or irritation of the nerves. Sometimes the alarm system itself malfunctions and we experience pain long after the injury has healed. A science-based and logical method for the treatment of pain is to provide the opposite of pain. “A pleasant sensory and emotional experience that is not associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage.” A skilled Remedial massage therapist can down-regulate the pain and get you moving again so you can enjoy life. Remedial massage is classed as a conservative care intervention. There are no side effects or complications, unlike drugs or surgical treatment.
